If you still don't know what Web Monetization is:
for a lot of web content creators, ads remain the main way to make money of the content they produce, which could be just to compensate costs, as a reward for the time spent, or even potentially to allow transferring to full time content producing. And for a lot of content consumers, blocking ads removes the only way to “pay”, baring some direct donations scheme.
W3C and Grant for the Web are committed to getting more heads, hearts, and minds involved in building new business models on the web. We believe that Web Monetization has the opportunity to start to decentralize privilege and power and expand financial inclusion.
I've been using Web Monetization and Coil for a little more than one year now, and I couldn't agree more with Léonie:
