The CSSWG deserves a lot of credit, in my opinion, for repurposing/extending CSS keyframe animations for scroll-driven animations. Rather than invent an entirely new thing from scratch, they built it on top of existing structures, which means a bunch of our pre-existing skills and knowledge can immediately be applied!
